Description

Agape means unconditional love… here it is the love the little siderian kitten (big slender tiger-like felines) Rose (see here: mudstar-sibera.deviantart.com/… and mudstar-sibera.deviantart.com/… ) feels for her grandfather Stygian Stígandr (aka Stian). See here: felisglacialis.deviantart.com/…  

This is the first time she meets her grandpaw. Rose was is too young to walk and her mother had brought her before her grandfather. She crawled over his huge thumb and looked into his eyes. She was fascinated. Stian was first a bit indifferent like… huh…? Hmm…but then he purrs softly and actually enjoys this moment. There is something in Rose that touches and interests him. Maybe it is her instant fascination for her grandpa and maybe it is because she is an ‘afterthought’ of all his grandkids (just like he has been). At least she brings a nice distraction from his otherwise stressful life. She brings him the brief moments of serenity that he needs.
Unfortunately, he doesn’t live to see her reach puberty and adulthood.

Anyway, I love this piece - it's not in your typical colours nor Stian's, ha, as has been observed, but the colours really lend so well to this - it gives such a dreamlike and almost fantasy atmosphere (without looking too unreal of course either), and especially how the warmer colours are on Rose's side, it makes it look as though she is bringing warmth, light and hope into Stian's life, and sparking things in him that he had almost even forgotten he could feel... and I think the way these colours look so dreamlike almost makes it seem like she had reignited some feeling of hope in him even though his fight so often seemed hopeless, and indeed she brings a nice distraction for him.
The flowers in the foreground are a lovely touch, and I can see Rose's fluffy baby-fur here, d'aww... a fantastic piece and I also really love the poses and perspective here, you nailed it as ever! 8D
