I finally got convinced by my brothers to watch the epic series Game of Thrones and I intend to read the books as well (although they have way to many pages… and I’m a very slow reader), but I haven’t had time yet (due to exams). I got very fond of the Lannister family and got the idea to draw the four most important Lannisters as lions, since their sigil is a golden lion. Jaime is my all-time favourite in the series, but Tywins power and appreance is pretty impressive, too. Tyrion is of course a funny genius and I feel quite some sympathy for Cersei too; especially how she deals with this hard world.
I hope the characters look a bit recognizable – I based the lions on the appearance of the actors. Tywin at the top left; depicted as having all the power and as the father of the other three; Jaime at the top right, Cersei at the bottom left and Tyrion at the bottom right. I must say that Cersei was the most difficult one to draw since I couldn’t play around with the mane to resemble the characters better. Her typical expression was also pretty difficult to catch, but I hope she’s still recognizable.
I was pretty inspired by the Lannister song ‘the Rains of Castamere’ which is based on an historic event where Tywin Lannister wiped out all the members of the rebelling house Reyne, of Castamere (lyrics here- gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/T… ; sung version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fn3_f3… and instrumental version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jERdlo… ). I drew the event of the golden lion killing the red lion and celebrating his victory of this bloody battle.
Another detail; the edges are based on a pattern I saw on Tyrion’s clothes and on the background of Tywin’s tent in the battle of season 1.
*please leave no major spoilers in the comments for those how haven't caught up with the series yet or haven't read the books (like me at the moment).

Btw - I heard from River that you watch Once Upon a Time too? I started with it - I've seen the first four episodes now - I great series as well - I will definitely continue with it.
well you depicted it very well my friend!
yes I have recently gotten into OUAT I'm on episode 6 of Season 2 now! woo hoo! Rumple and Regina are ma faves! Love to hear what you think as you watch it!
I loooove how close all of the facial features of the lions look so much like the acters, and the pattern at the bottom with heraldic style of the defeat of house Reyne is amazing... I'm drawing a picture now(that exams have finally eased off) inspired slightly by heraldic style, but with a sort of twist of my own style... ha, heraldic-ish Krovendraekk with wings are fun to draw but very awkward to pose! :'D (trying to keep the flexibility and fluidity whilst at the same time maintaining some of the pose rigidity often seen in heraldic beasts... )
But yes, even from the THUMBNAIL I could tell who all of the characters were clearly.
For some reason I always found Tywin Lannister attractive despite him being older, and his lion portrayal is no exception - dang, that's one gorgeous lion!
I rather like Jaime too despite some of his... flaws... but actually I didn't have much sympathy for Cersei at all, haha... I guess from reading the books first... I felt some small bits at times but then went straight back to hating her again. And even if she doesn't have a mane, it still really does look like her, well done!
Tyrion though has to be one of my favourite characters of the whole series, I loved him from the books so of course I loved him in the series too since I thought they portrayed him well - and so have you now too, in lion form!
I love the deep red of the background like the Lannister colours, but it also matches the detailing at the bottom of the extermination of house Reyne, not to mention that it really sets off the lions and looks like an old-fashioned portrait, plus the elegance of the flow of their manes intermingling with each other is downright gorgeous. <3 Also love the subtle lighting, it really adds elegance and class to the piece.
This might not be a drawing of your Siderians, but because of how gorgeous it is, and the subject nature of course, it may well be one of my favourite things in your gallery now - WELL DONE!
I've started in the first book now, but I'm a very slow reader so I won't go so fast. So far I liked the writing style - and I may have more time during the camping holiday next week
Anyway I'm wondering who you like most - I find it kinda weird that I got so fan of the Lannisters - most people don't really like them. But somehow I liked them on the first sight kinda. But I've read a spoiler about the next episode concerning my 3th place favourite char...
Anyway you're done with your exams as well? Me too - since friday the 13th! So weird to be finished...finally some time for DA and drawing but it's difficult to start after such LONG time of stress and work...
I've planned more non-siderian work: mission Felidae and Mission Draconidae XD But I also wanted to work more on the other siderian related felids. Enjoy you holiday a well and I"m looking forward to see your Krovendraekk i heraldic style!
I've always loved EVERYTHING medieval, so it's no surprise I love that style of art and of course the whole series(both book and television form).
And yes, I love that song too - in fact I have a drawing in my head inspired by it... though I'm not going to work on that storyline(the archaic-setting with my Krovendraekk of the Viseryan Era) for a few years or so, and you won't have met the character yet - Dortmun Oathbreaker, Warlord of the Kårstatt rebellion. Some lines from the song, just... when I heard it I couldn't help but think of him.
And WOW, that's going to turn out fantastic, I just know it is! Ha, he's a character that would lend himself VERY well to that style... sadly though I found out whilst working on my piece that Krovens don't lend themselves at all well to that style... too much longness and bendiness and bones everywhere. :'D It's hard to put them in the more rigid poses, I think more stocky-looking or compact animals look better(not that Stian is stocky, just... compared to Krovens, pretty much EVERYTHING is :'D) in that style and since the detailing and lines tend to be thicker/chunkier.
However, it DID get me thinking... Krovendraekk might look good in a Celtic/Norse style! Since they often exaggerate the length of animals and bend/intertwine them into unusual shapes, they might work well with that - something definitely to think about for the future, maybe one of Vroenfael.
I am still going to finish the one I'm currently working on - hopefully I can make it look ok! (if nowhere near as awesome as Stian, haha... I had to throw in a bit of my own style to balance it out and make it work a bit better with his physique)
Ah, great to hear it! Hmm, I'm fairly fast at reading... maybe 100 pages a day if I get time, if I had unlimited free time though I'd finish a book likely in one day if it's a book that I enjoy. And hope you have a good holiday!
Ah, I actually quite like them - I admire Tywin for his ruthlessness and determination, I like Jaime too... but my favourite character of the whole series has to be Tyrion, love his personality! I also liked Jon Snow in the book too, I think a bit better than in the series, and Eddard of course, before he lost his head. I really liked Sandor Clegane right from the start even if most people didn't - I guess he reminds me a lot of Habicht at times too, haha. However, I never liked Cersei... even when things happened to her, I felt sorry for about 30 seconds before going straight back to "DIE BITCH DIE". Aside from her and Joffrey though, you're not alone in liking the Lannisters!
A few of the other characters I like... you may not have met them yet, so I won't drop spoilers.
As for Danaerys... I could never quite make up my mind whether I liked her or not - at times I liked her, at times I'm not so sure... but I think that's a sign of a good writer, since with real people often it's hard to decide whether to like them or not.
Yes, my exams are finished... but I'm at home now which basically means I'm barely allowed to touch the computer so I can't draw and barely get time on dA... but at least in a couple of weeks I will be able to again, which isn't so bad.
Oh wow, those sound AMAZING, I can't wait! And oh yes, I'm excited about those - do you still have your Javines? And aww, thankyou very much - even with my 10-minute drawing slots, the character himself is already nearly finished, just need to fix him up a bit and give him a background!
you perfect artist
I love this picture, it's so great
But I really think I have to reduce it to single persons. There are actually three: The Hound, Daenerys & Jon Snow. I actually do like much more, but these three are my faves of all
You can see at the hairstyles and the eyes - without reading the comment before - the characters.
Amazing work ♥
sorry for my bad english
